When an archer shoots an arrow first of all he has to pull back the string of his bow. The further back he pulls the further the arrow flies.  When things are against you, the Lord uses it, like the archer, to pull you back so that you can be projected further.  If you are going through a difficult moment, relax, the Lord is preparing to shoot you forward.
